I suppose we could call this event, the Geomagnetic Storm that Wasn’t.

On last Wed Nights UnFuckIt discussion, I opened the show with a geomagnetic update discussing the C Class solar flares and the Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) that was purportedly heading towards Earth.
The next day
I put out a more technical Geomagnetic Update.
The long and short of it all comes down to the question: what the hell happened?
Was it a dud CME? OR….. are we not being given the information to be able to really evaluate our current situation on our little blue marble?
And again I ask: do we even have the right measuring sticks to be able to comprehend what’s going on?

Out there in the depths of space there are entire galaxies being killed off in a manner that is utterly perplexing scientists.
It’s the big astrophysical whodunnit. Across the Universe, galaxies are being killed and the question scientists want answered is, what’s killing them?
A research published on Jan. 2017 by a global team of researchers, based at the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR), seeks to answer that question.
The study reveals that a phenomenon called ram-pressure stripping is more prevalent than previously thought, driving gas from galaxies and sending them to an early death by depriving them of the material to make new stars.
The study of 11,000 galaxies shows their gas—the lifeblood for star formation—is being violently stripped away on a widespread scale throughout the local Universe.

On my way home from an appt. with a vampire (more “routine” bloodwork, ugh)…had to laugh as I neared home and heard, much to my amusement, an advertisement on the radio for a ski area which was highlighting their popular ski trail named “POLE CAT”. I immediately stopped my car at the local gas station/convenience mart to buy some lottery tickets….for our favorite Shifty Pole Cat….Pick 3 ticket for his number 007. Also picked a Pick 4 ticket for number 0007, an extra mother goose egg, just for good measure. hehehe
I never hear the word “POLE CAT” on the radio, so I found it wonderfully auspicious and hopefully lucky number today! Anyway, made me grin! 😀
