Seraphim and John’s four beasts are iconographically the same and are based upon the same archetype. In Hebrew, seraph means fiery serpent, which connects the seraphim with the fiery serpents of the Exodus. Both the four beasts and the seraphim chant “Holy, Holy, Holy” – a remnant of the archaic triple god. Cherubim are the same as seraphim, but with four wings instead of six. They follow the same archetype. That cherubim guard the way to the Tree of Life is consistent with the archetype, where both archetypes – tree and cherub – are the same.
